Baseboard
Baseboards, or skirting boards, run around the bottom of your room's walls. Baseboards cover the joint between the wall and the floor. Baseboards also protect the wall from kicks and abrasion. When you choose a baseboard moulding style you need to consider the scale of your room and height of your walls. Baseboard styles can be made of one piece or several pieces combined for an elaborate decorative feature. Even if you are going for a simple look, it is quite common to have a quarter round mould or “shoe” moulding between the baseboard and floor.
